Sofia Pantousa has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy

Sofia’s research explored how Fe⁺ ion irradiation influences the properties of nanocrystalline Fe–Cr alloys, with a focus on their microstructural evolution under different irradiation conditions. Her work contributes to the development of advanced materials for future fusion energy systems, where resistance to radiation damage is critical. By using Fe⁺ ions to simulate the effects of high-energy neutrons produced in fusion reactions, she provided valuable insights into material performance in extreme environments. 

Sofiacontinues to work for the Fusion Technology group at NCSR "Demokritos" on fusion materials research within the framework of EUROfusion.
